These Forum channels will operate much like Reddit Forums, where users can have discussions about a specific topic. Server owners and mods will have the ultimate option to pick between creating a new Forum channel or a regular text or voice-based channel. The channels will appear in the same menu bar on the left, with a chat bubble icon distinguishing them from other types of channels. Once you click on the icon, you will be able to see all the conversation threads that are integrated into the specific forum.
Discord first announced Forum channels back in February, but until now, it was still under the testing phase and limited to a few large communities. Now, this feature will be officially rolled out across mobile and desktop apps, available to any server with community features enabled.
This is a first step towards making Discord more organized for both users and moderators, as until now, everything was a mess of messages, images, and gifs that became pretty hard to untangle once you reach a certain threshold of active users. Let us see whether the community will embrace this change and if it will help push its popularity past other more popular services like Reddit.
