Tidal Live DJ Feature Introduced

Remote Live Streaming Feature

For all the people who do not know about Tidal, it is a Norwegian-American subscription-based music, podcast and video streaming service that offers audio and music videos. Tidal is also the first global music streaming service with high-fidelity audio and high-definition video, as well as professionally curated playlists and original content. Now, it has added a new and amazing feature. Users of this streaming service can now sign up to become DJs. The company is experimenting with a DJ tool that lets $20/month HiFi Plus subscribers share a playlist or a song they are listening to with other paying subscribers in real-time.

How Does It Work?

You can give the DJ session a name and distribute a link for others to use to access it. Unfortunately, listeners won’t be able to hear the DJ’s music in high-resolution or lossless audio right away. Regular AAC quality (160 Kbps) will be played for now; higher-resolution streams will be made available later.

Different From Tidal For DJs

The feature is different from Tidal for DJs, which lets producers and DJs plug music from the streaming service into expert audio tools. Therefore, this new function is intended for amateur tastemakers. People might be discouraged from sharing their live DJ performances with friends who generally use Spotify or Apple Music because listeners must also be paid, Tidal subscribers. While Amazon’s Amp allows users to produce their own radio shows with conversation and licensed music, at least Turntable.fm is still active.

Availability

To access the beta feature, aspiring DJs must sign up for Tidal’s Early Access Program. For the time being, they can only begin a session on iOS, but Android support will be available soon. On iOS or Android, any paying Tidal user can listen to a DJ set.
