The Update
Twitter hasn’t given many specifics about the service up to this point. The price of Blue for Business, who will be eligible, or how it will truly verify that a business is in charge of an account are some things which are still unknown. In the company’s press release, it is said that additional firms will be able to subscribe in the upcoming year. In a little footnote, Twitter does mention that not all platforms may support Blue for Business’ features, and those that do may change from time to time. With a restricted set of firms, including its own employees, the company is testing the service.
Benefits
There will be really good opportunities for Twitter here. The development of what is basically a business layer for its Twitter Blue service, which the firm is aiming to push toward, could aid in its goal of subscription-based revenue generation. Examples of the kinds of use cases the business envisions for Blue for Business are athletes being affiliated with sports teams, movie characters having a logo next to their names, and journalists wearing badges proving they actually work for a particular media.
Future Updates
Some of the features had already begun to appear prior to the announcement, which was the affiliate badges and rounded-square profile photographs. A new grey checkmark badge for government and multinational accounts has also been rolled out by Twitter. They also announced that the platform would begin rolling out the grey badges very soon.
