One of the most obvious changes being rolled out is a new modern interface that is consistent with the design of other sections of the app. This new streamlined design will replace the boxy look that users were used to until now. Similar updates have been made to the design of the message composer as well, which now features a clean and rounded look like other text boxes in various Android apps.
With this change, the text box has also been moved to a row of its own, where it doesn't have to share space with other input options like images and gifs. Similar design and usability changes have been made to the tweet forwarding and read receipts sections as well, which now have a clearer look and more responsive feel.
Other changes include adding more contextual information in the message requests section, which will let you know if you have any mutual connections with the person who sent the request. Lastly, they have replaced the three-dot menu icon with a more traditional settings symbol.
All of these changes have been introduced as part of efforts made by the social media platform to keep the service relevant for users. While this update didn't introduce the much-awaited edit button, we can still expect it to be launched eventually. For now, Android users can appreciate finally catching up to iOS users in terms of usability and UI.
