Ambient Mode
This is a new kind of video-watching experience, which matches the surrounding black bars of your video interface with the colours that are being shown inside the video itself. Smart TVs often do this sort of sync lighting with the help of additional LEDs that are often connected to the system. However, this new feature will instead work in the video watching windows itself so that you get a more immersive experience. You can easily turn it on or off through the settings menu or by simply turning on the Dark Theme.
Dark Theme
The Dark Theme is also getting more complex and discrete than before with this particular update. In addition to carrying support for the dynamic lighting and reflections, it will also feature a darker shade of black than before, on the surrounding areas. This is a their way of making the video stand out more, since you will be better able to make out the video edges than before. Similarly, it can also make out the contrast capabilities of your TV stand out as well, since models with fewer dimming zones and lighting control will struggle to reproduce the perfect blacks.
Updated Interface
In addition to increasing the impact of the colour and shading around the videos, the update will also clean up the interface to make it seem more organized and in line with their material theme. This will include redesigns for the Like and Share buttons, as well as a new colour, shape and contrast look for the big red Subscribe button. They are even changing the way YouTube links look like in the description text to make everything seem less like clutter. You will even get a new simpler layout for searching out specific thumbnails while scrolling across the video length.
Zoom Function
However, easily one of the key changes made to this interface is the introduction of a new feature that lets you zoom in or out of videos while playing. You can not only zoom in, but you can also stay locked at that zoom length for the rest of the video. This will take away the problem of constantly pinching-and-zooming that users currently have to engage in, in order to get the same function. This will make it easier to view videos that don't have the correct framing.
