AMD Advantage
While the right combination of graphics and computing hardware from the same brand does cut down on communications issues between the two, whether that is in terms of compatibility or latency; the reality is that AMD Advantage laptops focus far more on software-level optimizations of Adrenalin Edition drivers to deliver the promised output, rather than just relying on the raw performance of the hardware, which would already be hard to manage considering the thermal throttling issues in such a compact and enclosed space.
With AMD Advantage for Desktop, AMD is looking to try a more balanced approach, considering that they have a lot more space and options to play from when it comes to configuring their rigs and optimizing them for peak performance. This includes the latest processors and graphics cards, as well as other equally vital parts, such as high-speed memory and storage, a dedicated liquid cooling mechanism, precise overclocking profiles for both CPU and GPU, as well as a massive case with lots of fans for lots of airflow.
System Requirements
While the exact configurations of these systems will be up to the third-party retailers to decide, the company did give us a peak into what we can expect from an AMD Advantage Desktop. In the form of a brand new Origin PC Millennium - AMD Advantage Edition. The system in focus featured AMD's latest Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card, along with a liquid-cooled Ryzen 7 7950X processor connected to an ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Hero motherboard, which also features superfast AMD EXPO memory.
The brand worked with the engineers from Origin to showcase their best possible performance and efficiency improvements in a rig that features a premium chassis designed for tool-less entry, enterprise-grade liquid cooling, at least 32GB of LPDDR5 Memory, and at least 2TB of NVMe Storage. All of which is powered by at least an 80Plus Gold-badged power supply or something even better. Lastly, it was paired with Samsung's 55-inch Odyssey Ark 4K 165Gz Quantum Mini-LED gaming display so that gamers can enjoy high-refresh-rate gaming at equally high resolutions.
Price & Availability
This wasn't just the specifications of this particular model but also the minimum benchmark that all desktops will have to reach before they even qualify for the AMD Advantage tag. So, you can expect any qualifying PCs to be pretty expensive, considering the value of the hardware itself, in addition to the hundreds, if not thousands, of hours it will take for the manufacturers to fine-tune the software and overclocking profiles. While the company hasn't given us a specific price range for the same, we can expect to see more concrete figures when these AMD Advantage Desktops officially start to go on sale sometime in early 2023.
