Display & Design
The design of the MatePad C7 is pretty simple, with a plain plastic back panel featuring a basic matte black finish. The corners of the aluminium frame have been rounded off, with the back panel and front display sitting flat on it. The only noticeable feature on the rear is the camera bump, which comes in a large pill shape to accommodate both the rear camera and flash unit. There is just one button on top for the power on/off functionality and another on the side for volume control. Other than that, there is hardly anything about this tablet that stands out at first look.
The display itself is a 10.95-inch IPS LCD panel, which comes with a 16:10 aspect ratio and pretty thick bezels. Despite this old-school look, you still get a decent resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, a pixel density of 275 PPI, and even a high refresh rate of up to 120Hz. While there is no confirmation about what kind of HDR support it comes with, we do expect it to have decent coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.
Internals
On the inside, the MatePad C7 packs in the reliable Snapdragon 865 processor, paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There is a single camera unit on either side, with an 8MP sensor up front and a 13MP unit in the back. You get a quad-speaker setup with support for Histen 7.0 audio. In addition to various other connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.1, and USB-C. Everything is powered by a 7250mAh battery that supports up to 22.5W fast charging. You can also connect the Huawei M-Pencil, which is natively supported by the in-built HarmonyOS 2 software that also enables seamless file transfers, screen mirroring, extended displays, and split-screen functionality.
Price & Availability
The company has not announced any official pricing for the Huawei MatePad C7, but if the configuration is anything to go by, we can expect it to sit in the mid-range tablet segment, which is getting pretty heated with lots of new launches. This new model is available in Matte Gray colour only and will probably go on sale in the coming weeks.
