Design
The new Redmi Tab features a sleek and minimalist design, with different shades of grey featured on the rear panel. It houses a large black rectangular camera bump in the upper left corner, although, by the looks of it, it only features a single camera module. Other than this camera bump and the name of the company itself, the rear panel is completely flat and unblemished. The on/off button is located on the top, and we assume the USB-C charging port and speaker grills will be featured at the bottom. There are some tiny holes features on the right side, in addition to the volume controls, but we aren't sure whether those are for the microphones or some type of smart connectors.
On the front, the tablet features some pretty hefty bezels on all sides, which also hide the front selfie camera. There are no other physical buttons or noticeable features on the rest of the tablet other than the fact that the edges have been rounded for a smoother grip. While we only see the grey tones in the renders leaked, there are rumours that the tab will be available in multiple colour options, including Graphite Gray, Moonlight Silver, and Mint Green.
Specifications
According to recent leaks, the tablet is expected to feature a 10-bit 10.61-inch LCD panel that has a peak brightness of 400nits and supports a 90Hz refresh rate. On the inside, you are supposed to get an Helio G99 chipset paired with 3 GB / 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB / 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The package will be rounded off with the addition of Dolby Atmos-certified quad speakers.
The camera setup is almost an afterthought in this model, with both the front and the rear featuring a single 8MP unit. The rear camera is expected to come with autofocus support, while the front will get a 105-degree FOV for group selfies. It will also be equipped with a special FocusFrame feature, which will let you accommodate more people in a single frame. We expect most of the heavy lifting will be done on the software side, with the tablet running the MIUI version of Android 12. All of this will be powered by a massive 8,000mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support.
Price and Availability
Just like the smartphones, the tablet will also be initially released in the Chinese market, with a possible global launch in the future. We expect the Redmi Pad to be priced around $250 for the base model, with the top model coming in at below the $300 mark. If the company decides to include 5G connectivity with the top-tier model, then the price might go a bit higher, but that will only be cleared up at launch, which thankfully is just around the corner. So, stay tuned for all the updates.
