Xiaomi Lipstick Power Bank Launched

Featuring a 5000mAh Battery

Xiaomi recently held a launch event for their new CIVI 2 smartphone, which for designed specifically for their female audience. This is part of their ongoing attempt at building an ecosystem of products that focus on stylish aesthetics and smart designs to attract a more varied audience to their brand. Another product launched at this event alongside the smartphone was a compact power bank called the Lipstick Power Bank.

Lipstick Shaped Design

In the past year or so, many brands have been experimenting with technology products designed to look like a traditional lipstick. Most of these are already small products that can fit into such a compact form factor, like wireless earphones and their charging cases. So, it only made sense that someone would eventually repeat this experiment with other compact electronics categories, like a power bank.

This new Lipstick Power Bank from Xiaomi follows a similar formula by cramming 21700 power cells inside a cylindrical body that is shaped like lipstick. It carries a total power capacity of 5000mAh and weighs only 127 grams. This means that you can easily carry it in your purse and can even bring it onto an aeroplane.

The body of the power bank is made up of two layers. The inner shell comes with a blue-pink gradient colour design that slimmers in direct sunlight. While the outer layer is made up of a transparent matte coating that features UV technology. The charging indicator and a USB port are located on the top, while the bottle features a plain white plastic covering.

Charging Capabilities

Despite the relatively small power capacity, the power bank still has lots of charging functions that make it worth a purchase. For starters, it supports a power output of 20W, with a charging input of 13.5W. The power bank can charge itself in 1.5 hours, while it can charge a CIVI 2-size smartphone from 0-80% in around 30 minutes. You can also charge an iPhone with this power bank, although the power delivery will only reach around 43% in the same time period.

Safety Features

Thanks to the inclusion of an intelligent identification chip, the power bank can actually recognize the current requirement of any particular device and only supply that amount of current to it, thus, preventing any electrical issues in low-current devices. At the same time, it also features a variety of safety features such as temperature protection, short circuit protection, RESET protection, and overvoltage and overcurrent protection for both input and output, among others.

Pricing and Availability

The Lipstick Power Bank is currently on sale only in China, at a starting price of 129 yuan. The company is expected to launch it in the international market soon, alongside the new CIVI 2 smartphone. Chances are, you might even be able to win the power bank as part of a pre-order scheme whenever the company does go ahead with the international launch of these products. So, stay tuned for more news about the same.
