One of the most anticipated updates for this series came to the Predator Helios 300 (PH315-55), which is already a powerful gaming laptop and one of the top models available from the brand. In its new avatar, the Helios 300 gets a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, along with the option of picking between an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU.
You can finish up this configuration with up to 32GB of DDR5-4800 MHz memory and up to 2 TB of PCIe Gen4 SSD RAID 0 storage. This hardware muscle helps power up a 15.6-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) IPS display, which comes with a 165Hz refresh rate for fast-paced gaming. Other than this change in display size, the design of the new Helios 300 is pretty uniform and understated. You get a clean look for the chassis, with the only flair of design being featured in the vents on the back. This is the outlet for the dual-fan layout that includes one 5th Gen AeroBlade 3D fan, which is supported in its cooling efforts by liquid metal thermal grease and Acer’s CoolBoost technology. The CoolBoost technology gives you a lot of control over the cooling system, with the option to tweak the fan speed via four preset operating modes. There is even a built-in Turbo key that instantly maxes out these settings for improved gaming performance.
The whole gaming aesthetic is finished off with the inclusion of a mini-LED backlit keyboard featuring per-key RGB. On the whole, the design of the laptop is pretty understated for a properly decked-out gaming rig. Even the IO setup is pretty fleshed out, with support for Intel’s Killer DoubleShot Pro (E2600+1675i) and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, in addition to a healthy range of ports, including an HDMI 2.1 port, a Thunderbolt Type-C port, and two USB 3.2 Gen2 ports. These ports can not only power the laptop itself but also charge a mobile device even if the laptop is turned off.
All-in-all, you are getting a lot of laptops for a pretty decent price, which starts at EUR 2,299 for the 15.6-inch model and goes up to EUR 2,399 for the 17.3-inch one.
