Victus 2 Glass
This second-generation safety glass from the Victus series is believed to be strong enough to survive falls of almost a meter onto concrete. Because of the popularity of the “glass sandwich” design, Gorilla Glass is often responsible for protecting not just the front of the phone’s display but also the rear of the phone’s display.
Therefore it is not enough for the glass to be robust enough to withstand force without breaking; it must also be scratch resistant. Corning is satisfied that it has struck a reasonable balance between Victus’ drop performance and scratch resistance. Corning’s Victus 2 can now only withstand a one-meter drop onto concrete in a controlled setting. It can also withstand a 2-metre fall on asphalt, even after the display has been fractured.
