Premium Build
Flagship models come with certain expectations, and the most recurring one seems to be the quest to deliver the slimmest phone possible. This new model certainly delivers on that, with a sleek and slim body that is just 7.34 mm in thickness and weighing barely 183 g. The company is claiming that it is the thinnest Reno series handset yet, despite the still prominent camera bump.
Thankfully, the lenses don’t protrude outside of the bump like the iPhone. Instead, they sit flush on a raised platform that features smooth upswept corners that blend nicely with the rest of the body. You can get the phone in Glazed Green and Glazed Black colours only, with green being the more subtle yet striking option.
Vibrant Display
On the front, you get a massive 6.7" AMOLED display with a 93.4% screen-to-body ratio. The panel features a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as certifications for HDR10+, SGS Low Motion Blur, and SGS Low Blue Light certified. You even get secondary HDR certifications from Amazon and Netflix for their specific apps only. All of this makes for a great multimedia experience, whether you are passively enjoying a movie or actively playing a video game.
Dimensity Powered
On the inside, the phone is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8100-MAX processor. This is a flagship-level 5G processor, which was built on the latest 5nm process. It is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS storage. While this isn’t on the level of the latest Snapdragon processors, and you may have to face some occasional thermal throttling issues, it is still more than enough performance for most use cases.
Pro Level Camera Array
In addition to being the flagship of the Reno series, this model is also hailed as the Portrait Expert by the brand, thanks to its pro-level camera setup. The lineup consists of flagship Sony sensors, specifically the IMX709 RGBW front camera and the IMX766 main camera. You also get a binocular camera module and ring flash to round up the collection.
While the camera sensors are great on their own, the real heavy lifting is down by OPPO’s MariSilicon X. It is the company’s first self-developed imaging NPU, which is based on a 6nm manufacturing process and DSA architecture. MariSilicon X enables up to 18 trillion operations per second to further enhance your raw images, along with the ability to perform lossless real-time 4K AI processing. The system is robust enough to handle up to 20bit HDR fusion in the RAW format while achieving up to an 8dB signal-to-noise ratio.
If none of that makes sense, just know that you can now shoot 4K Ultra Night Video, 4K Ultra HDR Video, and add various effects to both photos and videos, like Portrait Mode, Hyperlapse, and 960fps AI Slow-motion.
Battery & Charging
The whole setup is powered by a decent 4500mAh battery, with support for 80W SUPERVOOC charging that can take you from 0-50% in only 11 minutes. A special battery health engine ensures that you can sustain such rapid charging speeds for up to 1600 charge cycles without causing any excess heat buildup or loss of charge. There is even an additional 5-Layer Charging Protection system, which has passed TÜV Rheinland’s Safe Fast-Charge System Certification. So, you can certainly stop worrying about any issues with temperature or thermal throttling.
Price and Availability
Now that the smartphone is available for open sale in Dubai, you can get it from any of your favourite retail shops for a starting price of around 2,799 AED. Customers who pre-order will get a complimentary watch, earbuds, and other additional gifts.
