Xiaomi CIVI 2 Specs Leaked

New Female Centric Smartphone

New leaks have revealed the specifications and design of the upcoming Xiaomi CIVI 2 smartphone. The CIVI brand was launched by the parent company to focus on their female audience in China, who prefer more stylish smartphones. This new model is aimed at a more global audience, with the latest internals and software updates added to the mix.

Xiaomi CIVI 2

Stylish Design

The CIVI 2 comes with a unique design that features a wave-like texture on the back. It is reminiscent of the patterns that are made by Japanese rakes in zen sand gardens, often referred to as Karesansui Gardens. The silver finish helps the texture pop up and look more vibrant in different lighting conditions.

They are also planning to launch the phone in a special Ice Blue version. This variant replaces the 3D wave texture with a flat back that features a glitter pattern that is much more subtle while still being easily noticeable. Both models boldly showcase these unique design choices while also highlighting the unique camera array.

Camera Array

The camera array is set inside a rectangular cutout with rounded edges that sits on top of the back panel in a vertical orientation. It juts out quite a bit from the rest of the back, although we suspect third-party back covers will help it blend in nicely. While this will cover up the unique design aesthetic of the phone, it is a compromise some users will happily make to avoid the phone wobbling when placed on any flat surface.

Rumours are that the phone will launch with a triple camera rear setup. The heavy lifting will be done by a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide, both of which sit inside the bigger camera circle that dominates the rear cut-out. A 2MP macro unit is tucked below in a separate enclosure, which sits on the left of a dual LED flash module. On the front, the CIVI 2 is expected to feature dual 32MP sensors, with one of them being ultrawide for group selfies.

Display Upgrade

The CIVI 2 is expected to ship with a 6.56-inch curved OLED FHD+ display that features a 120Hz refresh rate. While this is a great display for any current-gen smartphone, it isn't the real upgrade that we are talking about. Rumours are the phone will feature a pill-shaped cutout on the front to house the dual camera selfie setup, which might be similar to the new iPhone 14.

Whether they will duplicate the Dynamic Island notification system for the same is still up for debate. Even if they don't showcase it at launch, chances are that the company might introduce the feature with future software updates. There are already videos circulating on various forums that showcase such systems being run on other Android models, so it isn't a completely unrealistic expectation to have.

Internal Specifications

On the inside, the smartphone is expected to feature the latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. This is the successor to the reliable and well-known 778G, which is featured in lots of budget smartphones. It is based on their new 4nm manufacturing process and is expected to deliver a noticeable bump in performance. In addition, you can expect to get up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The whole setup will be kept cool by a massive 2387mm² stainless steel VC liquid cooling unit, which should be more than enough to handle the thermal output of the new processor. It will also work double time to keep the 4500mAH battery cool when you fast charge it with the 67W charger. It is a massive feat of engineering that you can get all of this inside such a slim and sleek body.

Launch Event

Xiaomi is expected to host the initial launch in China on September 27th, with a global reveal sometime later. Chances are they might even change the name of the model for the international market as they have done with other models before. While we don't know the exact details about the Chinese version, the international version is expected to feature Android 12 with an MIUI 13 skin on top. We don't know any details about the final pricing of this model, but since the launch is just around the corner, we will find out very soon.
