Vivo V2 Chip Announced

Second Generation ISP Chipset

The V2 Chip is a hardware-based image signal processor that was co-developed by the Chinese phone manufacturer Vivo and the Taiwanese smartphone chipmaker MediaTek. With this Chip, the company aims to improve the quality of images and videos captured by their flagship smartphones in all sorts of scenarios, including dark environments.

Chip Redesign

The V2 chip's fast data transfer rates are made possible by its FIT Dual-core connection. By providing a large SRAM cache, the company contributes to the phone's low power consumption and improves efficiency. This extra cache is used by the DLA Vivo AI deep-learning accelerator, which enables a whole host of Ai ML applications used in photography and video capture. For example, the chip enables a new RawEnhance 2.0 Algorithm, which improves the device’s ability to capture clear images in a dark environment. The focal length of the image can even be restored up to 35% after capturing.

Information from reliable sources indicates that MediaTek's new Dimnesity 9200 Chip will be used in upcoming Vivo phones equipped with the V2 Image Signal Processor (ISP) chip. When the user presses the shutter button, they'll enjoy a more satisfying photographic experience because of the interoperability of these two Chips. Both of these will be available in Vivo X90 Series.

Photography

According to Vivo, the V2 Chip is capable of learning from its users' actions, which will improve the quality of their photos over time. The forthcoming Vivo flagships will have a major upgrade to the current version of RawEnhance.

This Chip also has Ultra Zoom EIS support, ensuring that you will not miss a single minute of detail while zooming in on your preferred scene. At a recent presentation in China, Vivo said that the technology will make it easier than ever to take photos with zero milliseconds of delay. The V2 Chip's high-quality Image Engine makes all of this possible.

Availability

Vivo has ensured that its X90 series will be the first flagship device to have access to these cutting-edge processors. Soon this month, you should see the first X90 phones on the shelves. In time, we will see more high-end models taking advantage of this dual-processor format. If everything goes alright, we can expect a photographic revolution, thanks to the introduction of the V2 processor in smartphones.
