Display
The 4K OLED series from LG is known for having the brightest G Series model. The G3 is likely the best home theatre screen in LG’s new line-up because it has new Light Control Architecture hardware that, when combined with LG’s existing Brightness Booster Max technology, makes it allegedly even brighter than last year’s OLED Evo panels, with 70% more brightness over the more basic OLED screen in the LG M3 or B3.
Build Quality
To begin with, this LG G3 series of TVs was built to be wall-mounted only. When wall mounted, the G3’s astonishingly thin bezel and zero gap design allow the TV to sit flat against the wall, and it comes with a special wall mount. The screen’s shell is constructed from a thin composite fibre to make it lighter than in prior years. Although LG sells feet or a floor stand if anyone wants their TV to stand on its own, the G3 doesn’t come with a specific TV stand.
Specifications
With a few improvements to LG’s AI Picture Pro and AI Sound Pro modes, which adjust audio-visual output depending on the content the user is watching, the G3’s new sixth-generation Alpha a9 AI processor should perform much the same as earlier models. While the latter simulates a virtual 9.1.2 surround sound on the TV’s 3.1.2 channel speakers with LG’s special speaker technology, the former enables enhanced upscaling and object identification.
Features
Four HDMI 2.1 connections are provided for the G3, one of which supports eARC for convenient two-way communication with an attached soundbar. For the true cinephiles out there, there are also premium Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos settings, dedicated game modes, VRR support, sub-10ms input lag, and an improved webOS platform with bespoke user-profiles and a Quick Media Switching function that bounces between content sources more fluidly. The ATSC 3.0 tuner is integrated into all the G3 models to support the recent broadcast TV signal standard.
Price & Availability
The LG G3 series of OLED TVs come in four screen sizes, and the prices vary according to that. The 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch and 83-inch are priced at $2,199, $3,199, $4,199 and $6,499, respectively. All four G3 TVs will be officially launched in the international market, expectedly by the last week of March or the first week of April. They will be available for global shipping.
