Design & Build Quality
To keep the weight and cost down, the body of the StreamSet is made entirely from plastic. The earcups are made from plastic, although they feature multiple ear cuffs to ensure that your ears don’t start hurting after long hours of gaming. The earcups hang off from the rigid plastic arms that are attached to the headband through a rotatable plastic socket. This makes it possible to rotate the earcups without having to twist or turn the headband itself.
In addition to the earcups, the headband itself features pretty thick insulation to reduce the pressure on your head. Although at just 220 grams, the headset is not going to cause you a lot of discomfort even after hours of listening. The earcups also feature a concentric circular design with the company logo in the middle. There are sockets for high-quality audio cables, as well as a high-quality boom microphone.
Sound Quality
The audio output is handled by the same setup that can be found in the popular ATH series gaming headset. So, you can expect crystal clear sound, with a wide and distinct soundstage and enough bass to let you feel the music. The body features an open-back design that is supported to help the audio quality, although this comes at the cost of no active noise cancellation. Although, most gamers wouldn’t really need the feature anyway.
The Audio Technica headphones also come with a boom mic and mixer. The microphone has been taken from the Audio-Technica 20 series and features a pop filter and condenser for improved sound capture. You can easily record distortion-free audio at a click of a button and stop the recording by just flipping the boom up to mute it automatically. While you can adjust the microphone according to your preference, it still sticks close enough to your mouth that you won’t miss any speech accidentally.
